Hardcover, 8vo., quarter white cloth spine with black lettering and raised black & white pattern paper boards, prev owner Rosalind Macarthur-Onslow pencil notation of the gift, no dustjacket, 217pp. The book was originally published in Britain in 1929 by Eric Partridges publishing company Scholartis Press but British confiscated all known copies from known British booksellers. The book was written by Norah James who at the time was advertising and publishing manager at Jonathan Cape Publishing about wartime morality and contained phrases unacceptable to the British censors. Similiar attitude that taken to The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall. The publication in France by Babou & Kahane was the beginning of their Obelisk Press publishing in English works banned or apt to be banned in Britain. $100.00AUD
